John Lennon & Yoko OnoJOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO are two people. JOHN LENNON was a British musician and artist, most well known for being in the Beatles until 1969. He was unfortunately murdered by Mark David Chapman in 1980. YOKO ONO is a Japanese multimedia artist, most well known for having been married to John Lennon. Despite this, she was incredibly accomplished in her own right, especially in her home country of Japan. Together, John and Yoko made several albums together, ranging from the avant-garde to radio friendly pop. Their first three albums, collectively the Unfinished Music series (1968-1969) were released under Apple Records and Zapple Records (vol. 2 only) and were consistenly experimental. They were not recieved well by the record buying public. Later on, they made Double Fantasy (1980) for Geffen Records, which consists of more accessible pop rock. They were in the middle of producing a follow-up album, later titled Milk and Honey (1984), when John was fatally shot outside of his own home. It later released on Polydor Records. Their second album, Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions (1969) contains a copyright-ineligible track titled "Two Minutes Silence." It is exactly that, being two minutes of silence. In 2023, Delicate Records founder Sylvia Johnson had an idea to release the song with three "bonus tracks", and get away with it due to it's ineligibility for copyright protections. It was the second release on the label. |
